Who we are
Fort Myers Mold Pros is a free service that helps homeowners in Fort Myers and across Lee County find and compare quotes from Florida-licensed mold assessors and mold remediators. We connect Fort Myers and Lee County homeowners with Florida-licensed mold assessors and remediators, so you can spend less time searching and more time deciding.
Southwest Florida is a humid place to own a home. The FSU Florida Climate Center reports that Fort Myers morning relative humidity stays between 84% and 91% in every month of the year, and NOAA normals put annual rainfall at Fort Myers Page Field at 57.41 inches. Add hurricane season, AC systems that run most of the year and homes that sit empty for part of it, and mold questions come up often.
What we do
Tell us what you're seeing and we'll help you get quotes from licensed local pros.
- Take your request through our short free quote form: where you see mold, roughly how big the area is, and any recent leaks or storm damage.
- Pass your details to licensed local mold professionals who serve your part of Lee County, so they can contact you with a quote.
- Share plain-English guides on typical mold remediation costs, what usually happens during remediation and common questions, so you know what to ask.
The service is free for homeowners, and there is no obligation to hire anyone who quotes your job.
What we don't do
We do not perform mold work of any kind, and we do not hold mold licenses. We don't assess, test, remove or remediate mold. Any assessment or remediation is done by the independent, Florida-licensed company you choose to hire, and that company sets its own price, schedule and terms.
Florida Statutes s. 468.8411 defines mold assessment and mold remediation in terms of mold growth of greater than 10 square feet, and the state's DBPR FAQ says "only individuals are licensed to perform these services." That is why every pro you talk to should be able to give you a Florida license number.
Florida's s. 468.8419 also limits a mold assessor from remediating a structure it assessed within the last 12 months, and a remediator from assessing a structure it remediated within the last 12 months, with an exemption for Division I certified contractors. In practice, the assessor and the remediator are typically separate companies. This is general information, not legal advice.
Always verify a license
Before you hire anyone, ask the company for its Florida license number and verify it at MyFloridaLicense.com. DBPR says you can verify licenses by name or license number. Our guide on how to verify a Florida mold license walks through it step by step.
If you or someone in your home has health concerns about mold, please talk to a doctor. EPA's mold guide is a good general starting point for the home side of the problem.
